PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten a signal waiting time for pedestrians to go across a slave road without sacrificing smooth forward movement of vehicles on the slave road.;SOLUTION: A traffic signal display system comprises signal lights (S1-S4) for main road vehicles, signal lights (S5-S8) for slave road vehicles, signal lights (S9-S12) for main road pedestrians, and signal lights (S13-S16) for slave road pedestrians. In a first signal display pattern, the signal lights for slave road vehicles change from blue through yellow to red just while the signal lights for slave road pedestrians are blue, and the signal lights for main road pedestrians are then switched from red to blue. In a second signal display pattern, the signal lights for slave road vehicles are red at all the time, and the signal lights for main road pedestrians are blue at all the time.
