Isoamylase from the red alga Porphyridium

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To analyze the starch structure of Rhodophyta and separate and identify the synthetase of the starch.;SOLUTION: The invention relates to an isoamylase derived from Porphyridium belonging to Rhodophyta. The invention further relates to a gene encoding the isoamylase, a vector containing the gene and a transformant containing the vector. The starch of Rhodophyta has a special structure different from the starch of other organisms, and is useful as a new starch for food and industrial use and the synthetase is useful as an enzyme for the production of starch having a new structure.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
