PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform loop-back in a shortest distance and to receive high-quality optical signals in line relief control for a ring transmission system that can transmit time-division-multiplexed optical signals in dual directions.;SOLUTION: An optical transmitting apparatus B is provided with: a connection form recognizing means 110a which is connected to a bidirectional ring transmission line and recognizes a connection form between a transmission ring and another transmission ring connected to the transmission ring; a fault block detecting means 110b which is connected to the connection form recognizing means 110a and detects a block wherein a fault occurs; and a loop-back switching control means 110c which is connected to the connection form recognizing means 110a and the fault block detecting means 110b and switches a transmission path based on the connection form and the block.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
