PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide technology for displaying sales promotion information by providing electronic sign (ES) that displays the sales promotion information, a display slogan, bundled pricing, bulk pricing and information in other forms. ;SOLUTION: The electronic sign can be used for increase of sales by a retailer and can provide another method for performing advertisement and cost reduction. In one embodiment, an EPL computer reads an EPL/electronic sign data file and an EPL computer that determines whether a certain description item is associated with the EPL or the electronic signs then reads a sales promotion message from a sales promotion data file. An exact sales promotion message can be determined by using an index in the EPL/electronic sign data file. The EPL computer transmits a message including a command that makes the electronic sign display the sales promotion message to the electronic signs. The electronic signs display the sales promotion message and provide a customer considering purchase with valuable information.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
