PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a biological contact filter medium readily performing maintenance and stably maintaining the treatment efficiency when wastewater containing slightly degradable organic materials, color components, etc., with the biological filter medium and to provide a method for treating water using the filter medium. PSOLUTION: An active carbon sheet comprising 5mass% of fibrous active carbon having pore characteristics represented by (a) and/or (b) and obtained by a dry process is provided. (a) The average pore diameter is 24 and the specific surface area of pores having 20 diameter is 50mSP2/SP/g.
