PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catalyst having long life and capable of becoming an economical catalyst in a system for synthesizing carboxylic acid esters from an aldehyde compound represented by Tishchenko reaction, and a method for manufacturing carboxylic acid esters using the catalyst.;SOLUTION: The subject is solved by finding out that a solid obtained by the contact of silica with an aluminum alkoxide can be usefully adapted as the catalyst when carboxylic acid esters are manufactured by the dimerization reaction of the aldehyde compound.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
