PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an evaluation method capable of objectively evaluating the similarity of a data string with a simple method. PSOLUTION: A reference data string consisting of a plurality of numerical, mark, character or pattern data, or a reference data string consisting of combination of these data is prepared. A set of two data is formed from a comparative data string to be evaluated comparatively with the reference data string, and the arrangement order of the data in this set is compared with the arrangement of the same data as the data constituting the set in the reference data. A first evaluation score is given when the arrangement order is matched, a second evaluation score is given when the arrangement order is not matched, and the given first and second evaluation scores for all sets extracted from the comparative data are added together.
