One step preparation of 1,3,4,6-tetra-O-acetyl-2-ammonium-2-deoxy-.beta.-D-glucopyranose-hydrochloride mixture of 1,3,4,6-tetra-O-acetyl-2- amonium-2-deoxy-.alfa./.beta.-D-glukopyranosy-hydrochloridu. Method resides in the fact that D-glucosamine hydrochloride was acetylated in an acidic medium, preferably acetyl chloride under acidic conditions.
