The invention relates to the use of the agents containing an effective amount of a combination of biologically active substances, which include (a) at least one substituted cyclic ketoenol of the formula (I-1')where the radicals have the meanings indicated in the description: and (b) at least one compound which improves crop plant tolerance and selected from the group comprising cloquintocet-mexyl, isoxadifen-ethyl, mefenpyr-diethyl, dichlormid, furilazole, fenclorim and the compoundfor controlling insects and arachnids, and also the method for controlling insects and/or arachnids using said agents and the agent with the effective amount of the combination of the biologically active substances.
