The invention relates to a compact, efficient and inexpensive transformerless bindiretional power conversion system. It comprises atleast one capacitor (C1, C2, or C3). A charging circuit is connected to the capacitor and to voltage source (R Y B and N) and it comprises a pair of first thyristors (X1,and X2,X3, and X4, or X5, and X6) in anit-parallel configuration and a first inductor (L1,L2 or L3) in series with the first thyristors. A discharging circuit is connected to the capacitor and as DC load or source and it comprises a second thyristors (X7,X8, or X9) connected in series with a third thyristors (X10) and a second inductor (L4). An inversion circuit is connected across the capacitor and it comprises a third inductor (L5,L6 or L7) in series with a fourth thyristors (X11,X12, or X13). A control circuit (SI1) is connected to the charging circuit, discharging circuit and inversion circuit and it comprises a sequential logic circuit such as microprocessor of power the voltage source.
