INVENTION OF A NEW POTENT ANTILEISHMANIAL DRUG DELIVERY PREPARATION FROM ACETYL DERIVATIVES (AC MT81 ) OF MT81 ANTIBIOTIC

Leishmaniasis constitutes a diverse group of human diseases that varies from simple cutaneous leishmaniasis to very fatal disease like visceral elishmaniasis or "kala-azar". Throughout the world, scientists are engaged in the development of anti-leishmanial drugs (eg. pentavalent antimonials, sodium stibolguconate, pentamidine, mepacrine, amphotericine B etc.), most of which are toxic and ineffective due to the development of resistant strains of Leishmania donovani, against them. Now, in our laboratory, we have invented a new and unique anti-leishmanial drug delivery preparation with the anti-leishmanial drug Ac2MT81, using liposomal and mannose grafted liposomal delivery systems, which are potent, safe and less toxic.
