BENZAMIDE DERIVATIVES FROM ANACARDIC ACID, THEIR CYTOTOXIC ACTIVITY AND METHOD OF PREPARATION THEREOF

The present invention relates to benzamide derivatives, derived from a naturally occurring anacardic acid isolated from cashew nut shell liquid (CNSL) of general formula I and pharmaceutically acceptable salts salts, hydrates, solvates and prodrug derivatives thereof which have cytotoxic effect on different cancer cell lines. The invention also provides a semi synthetic cell permeable benzamide compounds and pharmaceutically acceptable salts, hydrates, solvates and prodrug derivatives thereof and a method for inhibiting cell-proliferation on HeLa, MCF-7 and many other cancer cell lines. This could lead to economically viable and alternate therapies for cancer patients.
