ABSTRACT In a method tor the detection of a core in a core yam (9), an electrical alternating field is produced in a measurement capacitor (2). The core yarn (9) is subjected to the alternating field. Chiiractenstics of the alternating field interacting with the core yam (9) ai"e determined in that several electrical variables influenced by the alternating field are recorded and combined with one another. From the characteristics of the alternating field, one concludes on the presence or an absence of the core. Thanks to the invention, it is possible to detect core yam breakages with capacifive means, with which an exisfing prejudice is overcome.
