The aim of the invention is to provide a method and a system which allow the automatic prioization of a patient and/or a group of patients in order to optimize the medical care for patients. The invention provides a method and a system for the automatic priorization of instances of medical care for at least one patient. The method according to the invention comprises the following steps: acquire one or more values of the at least one patient; determine at least one trend of the at least one patient with regard to at least one corresponding variable; provide a set of weighted functions p1,..., pm and a set of medical variables t1,..., tm, at least one weighted function pi of the set of weighted functions being associated with at least one variable ti of the set of medical variables; apply the set of weighted functions to one or more values of the at least one patient and/or to at least one trend of the at least one patient, at least one weighted function pi of the set of weighted functions being applied to at least one value xi corresponding to the at least one associated variable ti and/or to at least one trend xi corresponding to the at least one associated variable ti; add and normalize the respective weighted functions to achieve a priorization; and output an order of care for the at least one patient which order corresponds to the priorization.
