IMPROVED ORTHOPAEDIC ARTICLE FOR THE IMMOBLISATION OF THE LIMB OF A PATIENT AND PROCESS FOR THE MANUFACTURE THEREOF

The present invention relates to an improved orthopaedic article or device for the immoblisation of the limb of a patient and to a process for the manufacture of such an article. The improved article comprises an endless substrate made from fabric knitted on a crochet or raschel knitting machine or a needle loom from 100 to 500 denier yarn of natural or man-made fibres or blends thereof and has applied to the surface thereof a water-curable isocyanate prepolymer. The prepolymer consists of a balanced combination of an aromatic isocyanate and a polyol in a specific ratio by weight conforming to the percentage of the weight of the NCO group in the resultant prepolymer. The water curable prepolymer is one which is not adversely affected in tropical climates.
