based on metal nanowires prepared using molecular sieve mesoporeux as matrix, and their use in smoking articles, the invention discloses compositions of cut tobacco, cigarette smoke, such as articles 2, processes for the manufacture of cigarettes and the forms of treatment of cigarette smoke, involving the use of nanowires of metal base.the base metal nanowires are capable of removing at least one component of the tobacco, preferably in a selective manner. the nanowires may be formed of base metal is any metal, metal oxide, or mixtures of these as appropriate.for example, the nanowires to metal base includes at least a transition metal or lanthanide metal or an oxide thereof. the metals or metal oxides copies thereof, including, but not limited to, iron, copper, zinc, titanium, vanadium, molybdenum, palladium, cobalt, and manganese.the metal nanowires can be produced on the basis of (i), at least one composition of base metal in a mesoporous molecular sieve substrate by a wet impregnation, followed by a gradual start repeated calcination to form the nanowires; and (ii) insulation of the nanowires by the extraction of the mesoporous molecular sieve substrate, for example.with aqueous naoh.
