BILATERAL OSTEOTOME FOR WEDGE OSTEOTOMY.

The present osteotome is designed to correct deformities in knees or any other joint, which consists in two rectangular-shaped metallic plates equal in length but one of them being wider than the other, said plates being proximally attached in a free manner and distally attached by a hinge, the plate reduced in width having a cylindrical-shaped axis attached to a major plate by two clamps; the major plate distally has a channel occupied by the minor or independent plate that forms the central portion of the sharpened end portion thereof, which upon being proximally separated from each other generates the minor or independent plate to be separated. An opening wedge is generated and transitorily maintained with a major plate screw upon introducing the cutting or distal edge portion into the bone and separating the plates therein. The purpose of the present invention is to avoid fractures, limitations in the correction of deformities as well as estimation errors, also reducing surgery ti me in case of not having the suitable instrument for carrying out the correction, although it is an antique technique.
