Mixing materials in a skip bin with a digger bucket

A mixing system and method includes a suitable mixing bin 1 into which materials to be mixed are loaded and a digger with an attachment such as a bucket 14 that can be dragged through the material in the bin to mix the material within the bin. The trick is to have the bin up to 30% wider than the mixing bucket so that there is a clearance on either side of the bucket so that material is folded throughout the space between the sides of the bin and the sides of the bucket. The bin is provided with wear strips 7 to reduce wear on the bin due to the motion of the bucket as material is mixed in the bin.
