The invention relates to a method and device for avoiding the burning of the a fusing agent on the metal strip surface when said strip enters a zinc coating bath, while said strip is stationary, by detaching the mill surface which was not coated with zinc, covered with zinc melt as fusing agent from the zinc coating bath, with a mechanical device acting upon the metal strip by partially removing partially said strip from the zinc melt, while said strip is stopped, so that a portion of metal strip coated with zinc is present at the interface between the zinc bath and the atmosphere, said strip being protected against the burning of the fusing agent on the metal platband. Said mechanical device for applying the method is a cylinder (C) for linear actuation, with the external end of the piston prolonged with a rod (t) guided by two pairs of rolls (r) from the ends of some supports (S) of a guiding (G), the upper end of the rod (t) being fixed the shaft of the guide roll (R), by which it acts on the metal strip by partially removing said strip from the zinc melt, when the strip is stopped.
