The invention relates to a process for recovering uranium from uranium-bearing ores, by acid leaching. According to the invention, the process consists in enriching the uranium-bearing ore, by radiometric sorting, while removing the tailings below the 0.03% uranium content threshold, followed by wet grinding in two stages, up to a granulation of 0.1 mm, the resulting cloudiness being thickened up to a S/L ratio of 1/1 with 1% floculant solution, followed by leaching this coudiness with sulphuric acid, in two stages, at 60A C for 4 hours/stage. The pulp obtained at first filtration is washed with half of the solution volume and of the washing water resulting from the second filtration, the second half of the solution (from second filtration) being used for repulping the pulp resulting from the first filtration, the resulting cloudiness being introduced into the second leaching stage, the uranium recovery from uranium-bearing solution resulting after the first filtration being performed by carbonating with Na2CO3 and filtering for separating the impurifying metal hydroxides, the remaining solution being enriched by ion exchange, the uranium in the eluates being precipitated as sodium diuranate, washed by settling-filtering, dried and stored.
