The invention relates to a process for modifying the direct current traction motor into asynchronous-type alternating current traction motor by modifying the existing direct current motor and maintaining the main mechanical elements for assembling and coupling. For the modification of the direct current motor into asynchronous-type alternating current motor, this will be subjected to a series of changes: a) there are eliminated the main poles (14) with the windings (17 and 18), the auxiliary poles (15) with the windings (16), the rotor packet (19) with the winding (20) , the collector (21) and the brush system (22); b) the assembling and coupling elements, collector side shield (2), traction side shield (3), collector side external cover (4), torsion shaft (5), collector side external labyrinth (7), traction side external cover (9), pinion (10), crown (11), external cover (12), semi-coupler (13) will be reused without any modification; c) the housing (1) and hub (8) will be processed adequately with a view to mounting the new magnetic cores (fixed coil and rotor); d) there is introduced the fixed coil packet into the housing and it is wound adequately, and on the hub there is pressed the rotor packet whereon the rotor cage is carried out.
