The invention relates to a method for assessing the structural degradation of heat-resisting wrought alloy steels employed in the construction of power engineering equipments. According to the invention, the method consists in taking metallographic samples or replicas from the components of the power engineering equipments in natural size and working at temperatures under 450A C, from the main characteristic zones of welded joints, the samples being then subjected to microscopic examination as a consequence of which each grain boundary is classified as degraded or non-degraded grain boundary.
