Method for determination of present together in water solution cadmium and / or zinc includes treatment of solution with sorbent on basis of chemically modified N-propyl -N'-alylthyourea silica-gel with following separation of sorbent with sorbed metal from liquid phase and determination of content of metal in liquid phase and/or in phase of sorbent with known methods. To solution one preliminarily adds di-(n-sulphophenyl)-thyocarbasone and treatment with sorbent is performed at oxidation of solution to concentration of Н+- ions equal to 0,1-2 М, with provision of quantitative separation of cadmium on sorbent as complex with di-(n-sulphophenyl)-thyocarbasone.
