METHOD FOR ASSESSMENT OF MENSTRUAL FUNCTION IN HIV-INFECTED WOMEN OF CHILD-BEARING AGE

A method for the assessment of the menstrual function in HIV-infected women of child-bearing age comprises the assay of luteinizing hormone (LH) and progesterone in blood serum at the second phase of the menstrual cycle. Furthermore, the deviation from the normal values in percent is calculated. In HIV-infection combined with the use of psychoactive substances, the impaired menstrual function is evident when LH content is deviated from the normal values by 50% (increase or decrease) and progesterone content decreases by 35%. In HIV-infection combined with the sexual dysfunctions and sexually transmitted infections, the impaired menstrual function is evident when LH content increases by 40% and progesterone content decreases by 30%.
