The crate is dimensioned and/or designed in such a manner that a turning of the sow and/or pig in the crate about the own axis is controlled by dimension of a locked crate entrance (6) and corresponding protection devices (9) that are situated in the crate. An opening is provided at a side of the crate, where the opening serves as the entrance for the sow. The opening is closable in order to fix the sow in the crate.
