The subject matter of the present invention is a rail route comprising individual rail joints (1), having at least one electronic identification element (10) for the rail joints (1) which interchanges data with an interrogation unit (11). In line with the invention, rail-specific identification and/or inspection data are transmitted between the identification element (10) and the interrogation unit (11).
