Procedure for producing a doped area in a solid body, in which - a medium containing a doping substance is brought into contact with a surface of the solid body, - by irradiation with laser pulses a solid body area is melted below the surface contacted with the medium, whereby the doping substance is diffused within the molten zone and this substance is recrystallized during cooling of the molten zone, - the laser beam being focused on the solid body in a linear focus and - ascending the linear focus width less than 10 mum.
