A system (10) for measuring energy in an ultra-short pulse of a beam (14) laser in which the beam (14) laser has a polarization, comprising: means (12) for directing the beam (14) laser along a path (20) beam, wherein said beam (14) includes a plurality of laser pulses and ultrashort each pulse has energy; means (32) for converting a predetermined portion (26) of the energy of each ultra-short pulse beam (14) laser into an electrical current, wherein the current produces a voltage pulse indicative of the energy in a single laser pulse ; means (36) for amplifying said voltage pulse; means (38) for integrating the amplified voltage pulse over a specified time period to obtain a signal (72) output, wherein the signal (72) output is a measure of the energy in an ultra pulse beam (14) laser; a circuit (48) laser synchronization to start the integration process; a plate (18) rotating half-wave located in the path (20) beam to establish an orientation of the polarization of the beam (14) laser; a splitter (24) polarization beam optically aligned with said plate (18) rotating half-wave to reflect the predetermined portion (26) of the energy of each ultra-short pulse beam (14) beam onto said medium (32 ) conversion, and to transmit the remainder (28) of the beam (14) laser along the path (20) beam; a comparator (60) for controlling said plate (18) half-wave, wherein said comparator (60) compares the signal (72) output with a known reference signal to generate a signal (74) error, and wherein said comparator (60) compares the signal (80) output from the rest with the known reference signal to generate a signal (81) verification, and further wherein the signal (81) of verification compared with the signal (74) error for compensating the signal (81) check as necessary for rotating said plate (18) half-wave and set the orientation of the polarization of the beam (14) laser; a device (42) programmable logic to control the timing of the laser energy measurement; means (52) for extracting a portion (54) fixed energy of each ultra-short pulse in the remainder (28) of the beam (14) laser; and means (58) for measuring the fixed portion of the energy.
