PRE- AND POST-TREATMENT SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR AQUATIC PLANT FILTRATION USING OZONE

A process for treating water to remove concentrations of nutrients andpollutants using ozone prior or after the water is exposed to naturalfiltration by periphyton or other aquatic plants. A system employs a deepwater tank (11) containing water to be treated. Concentrated ozonated water isinjected via a pipe (16) at the bottom of the tank (11) to expose the water tobe treated with ozone. The treated water exits from the top of the tank (11)via a nozzle (18) whereby it is flowed over an aquatic plant system (22) toremove undesired matter, such as pesticides. The process can be repeatedsuccessively to further treat the water if desired.
