A system for real-time verification of protective device system configurationsettings on a monitored system, isdisclosed. The system includes a data acquisition component, a virtual systemmodel database, a protective device system verificationengine. The data acquisition component is communicatively connected to asensor configured to real- time protective deviceconfiguration data output from a protective device that is part of themonitored system. The virtual system model database is configured toupdate a virtual mode of the system based on the status of the protectivedevices and to store a virtual system model of the monitoredsystem, including preset protective device configuration settings for theprotective device. The protective device system verificationengine configured to monitor the real-time protective device configurationdata and the preset protective device configurationsettings and generate a warning when there is a difference between the real-time protective device configuration data and the presetprotective device configuration settings.
