Use of a protein (I), isolated by extraction of Pilocarpus heterophyllus, to treat cancers that require growth hormone-releasing hormone (GHRH) for their growth. (I), designated heterocarpin, has molecular weight about 90.9 kD; contains the peptide fragments (1)-(3) and exists in glycosylated or non-glycosylated forms.
