METHOD OF DETECTING LOCALIZED TREAD BLOCK SLIP AND APPLICATION TO ESTIMATING MAXIMUM TYRE GRIP

Method of detecting localized tread block slip or slip of a measurement zone of a tyre while it is rolling. This tread block is situated in an area of contact between the tyre tread and the road surface. A sensor for measuring the stress to which the tyre is exposed is situated in this tread block or in this measurement zone. These measurements are extracted so as to deduce a signal corresponding to these stress measurements as a function of the number or duration of the sensor or sensors in the area of contact. According to various criteria applied to the analysis of part of the extracted signal, information is deduced therefrom in the form of a zone or point characterizing incipient local slip.
