A liquid identification device includes an exhaust gas purification treatment device using a liquid consumption agent which is used for management of harmful ingredients in exhaust gas from an engine; an identification sensor for measuring at least the liquid type or concentration, temperature, and components of the liquid consumption agent and generating the data thereof; and storage means for storing the measurement data obtained by the identification sensor, and judges at least whether the concentration of the liquid consumption agent is proper or not or whether the liquid consumption agent contains proper ingredients or not by comparing the measurement data of the liquid consumption agent stored in the storage means with the proper data of a proper liquid consumption agent, wherein the storage means can only record the measurement data and cannot rewrite the measurement data.
