The normal mandibular position of a subject is determined. A mandibular position determining method for determining the normal mandibular position of a subject comprises a center calculation step of acquiring measurement data by measuring the movement of the head of the subject and calculating the center of movement when the head movement is approximated to a rotational movement of a rigid body, a mandibular trace measurement step of measuring traces of the mastication movement of the mandible of the subject with respect to mandibular positions, and a position determining step of determining the mandibular position corresponding to the trace, among the traces measured at the mandibular trace measurement step, such that the center of movement of when the mastication movement of the mandible is approximated to a rotational movement of a rigid body agrees with the center of movement of the head calculated at the center calculation step as the normal mandibular position of the subject and outputting the determined mandibular position.
