A composite shielding material for protection against medical X-ray consists of radiation absorbing substance and carrier material, wherein the radiation absorbing substance comprises lanthanide mixture, tungsten, bismuth, tin and/or antimony. The lanthanide is extracted from nature ore, which could be oxide or other types of compound. The tungsten, bismuth, tin and/or antimony could be metal powder or other types of compound. The carrier material may be native rubber or masticated rubber, thermoplastic elastomer or plastic.
