The invention relates to a method for evaluating analyte-related signals from IMS chromatograms recorded by means of ion mobility spectrometry, composed of a row of individual spectrums, or a complete or partial chromatogram. Said method is characterised in that superficial forms of the signals in the IMS-chromatogrammes are represented by means of the following analytical function (1): wherein σdt, bdt, cdt, σrt, brt, crt represent fixed parameters; dtmax, rtmax , hmax represent the position and height of the peak maximums, formula (2) represents the density function of the logarithmical normal distribution and the other variables have the meaning indicated in formula (3).
