Disclosed are a material and a finished wire for a projecting material for shot-peening, which can realize the prevention of wire breaking in the step of performing wire drawing to obtain a finished wire to improve the productivity, a process for producing a projecting material for shot-peening, using the material or the finished wire, which can improve the productivity, and a projecting material obtained by the production process. In the finished wire for a projecting material for shot-peening, not less than 80% of the total area of the finished wire is accounted for by a carbide having a particle diameter of not more than 2 μm. The finished wire is obtained by the step of performing wire drawing into a wire rod and the step of repeating annealing and cold drawing of the wire rod to obtain a finished wire. The material for a projecting material for shot-peening comprises, by mass, 0.95 to 1.10% of carbon, 0.15 to 0.30% of silicon, not more than 0.40% of manganese, not more than 0.020% of phosphorus, not more than 0.010% of sulfur, 1.40 to 1.60% of chromium, and not more than 0.0015% of oxygen with the balance consisting of iron and unavoidable impurities.
