The present invention relates to a method for producing sulfonated polyarylether ketones having degrees of sulfonation of 10 to 90 mol percent, comprising the step (ii) of reacting at least one polyarylether ketone with at least one sulfonating agent, wherein the degree of sulfonation is set by inline control by means of UV spectroscopy to a variance of less than +/- 5 mol percent, to a sulfonated polyarylether ketone, producible by said method, to a polymer mixture comprising at least one such sulfonated polyarylether ketone and at least one additional polymer, to a polymer electrolyte membrane comprising at least one sulfonated polyarylether ketone according to the invention, or a polymer mixture, and to the use of the sulfonated polyarylether ketone according to the invention or a polymer mixture as a polymer electrolyte membrane or as an ionomer.
