A flat tire monitoring method and a flat tire monitoring device, which method uses wheel speed signals as the sampling objects for flat tire monitoring, and judges that a flat tire has occurred when the increase rate (ΔV) of the flat tire wheel speed is equal to or more than the threshold value (ΔV1 ) of the increase rate of said speed, the change rate (ΔV/Δt ) of the increase rate of the flat tire wheel speed is equal to or more than the threshold value (ΔV1/Δt ) of the change rate of the increase rate of said speed, and the speed of the other wheels has not changed. The device applies said flat tire monitoring method as an upgrade to a vehicle ABS system, solves the problem of vehicle safety control after occurrence of a flat tire.
