The invention relates to roof kinematics for a cover, particularly a hardtop cover, of a passenger car, by means of which the cover can be moved between a closed position and a storage position within a storage space, wherein the cover can also, by means of the roof kinematics,  be brought into and held in a loading position allowing improved access to the storage space, wherein the roof kinematics comprises a lift mechanism (30) by means of which the cover moves into the loading position during the motion between the closed position and the storage position.
