The method involves stringing individual wood veneer strips (12) together on a region of suction openings (10a) of a work bench (11) under removal of a cover layer (14), and enlarging the region of the suction openings until the achievement of a desired total surface of a veneer sheet (13). A non-woven fabric with a single-sided adhesive pre-coating is applied on the veneer strips. The non-woven fabric is fixed opposite to the veneer strips sectionally. The veneer strips and fabric are transferred into a press, and the fabric is fixed with the veneer strips over the total surface by pressing. An independent claim is also included for a veneer sheet comprising multiple veneer strips.
