Franking machine and method for controlling a franking machine

The machine has a conveyor belt (1) for transporting a franking object. A printing unit (4) prints two dimensional franking images on the franking object. A reading device optically reads the printed franking images. A control device controls the belt and the printing unit, and analyzes data detected by the reading device. The reading device is formed by a reading sensor for reading pixels of the two dimensional franking images, where the sensor is moveable with a scanning device over a row of the two dimensional franking images. An independent claim is also included for a method for controlling a franking machine.
