A mixed flyback-forward topology converter includes a transformer having a core, a primary winding, a first secondary winding and a second secondary winding. A switch connects power to the primary winding. A forward stage is connected to the first secondary winding. A flyback stage is connected to the second secondary winding. An output voltage is provided by the flyback stage when the switch is in an off state and by the forward stage when the switch is in an on state.
