In a radical-hardenable 2-component (meth)acrylate adhesive composition (I), the first component (C1) contains radical polymerizable (meth)acrylate monomer(s) and reducing agent(s) (RA) and the second component (C2) contains oxidizing agent(s) (OA) reacting with RA to cause cleavage of OA into radicals and a visible color change in RA. (I) is free of RA's which cause no visible color change on contact with the OA. Independent claims are included for: (1) a bonding method, involving (a) mixing (C1) and (C2) to give (I); (b) applying (I) to a first substrate (S1); and (c) contacting the applied (I) with a second substrate (S2) within the open time os (I), (S1) and (S2) being of the same or different materials; (2) a hardened composition, obtained after at least partially mixing (C1) and (C2) to give (I); and (3) a composite article consisting of (S1), (S2) and hardened (I), which bonds (S1) and (S2) together.
