The device utilizes a driving roller, which is rotatably drivable by a motor drive, brakable in predetermined angular positions up to standstill and again rotatably drivable. A black box is functionally associated with an inductive ring sensor element (17) and incorporated in a controller or regulator. The black box includes customized applications, receives input signal from an inductive measuring device as an analog value or a serial signal and detects a direction of rotation, zero-position, rotational speed and tolerance values.
