Uses of WARS protein in cancer prognostics

The invention provides new methods, means and uses for establishing a prognosis for mammalian subjects having a colorectal cancer. The provided method for determining whether a prognosis for the mammalian subject is worse than or equal to a reference prognosis comprises the steps of: providing a sample earlier obtained from the subject; evaluating the amount of WARS protein present in at least part of the sample, and determining a sample value corresponding to the evaluated amount; comparing the obtained sample value with a reference value associated with the reference prognosis; and, if the sample value is equal to or lower than the reference value, concluding that the prognosis for the subject is equal to or worse than the reference prognosis.
