Provided is a buckling-stiffening structure for a box-shaped sectional type thin-plate member having a thickness of 0.4 mm to 1.6 mm. In this box-shaped sectional type thin-plate member (33), a thin steel plate is bent into a box-shaped sectional shape to form individual sides (25) and corner-stiffening portions (34) of corner portions (26) for connecting the adjoining sides to each other, and outer width sizes (b) are set to satisfy the following formula (1). In at least one of the individual corner-stiffening portions (34), a width size (D) parallel to the side to be connected to that corner-stiffening portion (34) exceeds two times as large as the plate thickness (t) of the thin plate member and either one third or less of the width size (b) of the two sides connected at the corner portion or one third or less of the shorter one of the two sides: b 740t/(√F)--------(1), wherein F: design reference strength (280N/mm2), and t: thickness size (mm) of the box-shaped sectional type thin-plate member. ® KIPO & WIPO 2009
