METHOD FOR TRANSMITTING COMPRESSED IMAGE USING MPEG-4 BIFS STREAM

A method for transmitting a compressed image by using an MPEG-4 BIFS stream is provided to supply rich media without limitation of a low capacity terminal, express an image in BIFS contents without using additional OD information, and have no need to configure an additional logic channel during multiplexing in a transmission system which transmits BIFS contents. At least one compressed image to be put into a BIFS stream is prepared(S10). A compressed pixel texture node includes object type identifiers, compress image stream arrays and a selection indicator. The compressed pixel texture node is set(S20). BIFS contents are transmitted(S30). The transmitted BIFS contents are received(S40). The compressed image stream array is uncompressed and reproduced(S50).
