PVR associated with your computer implemented method under the IPTV environment

A set top box having a safety power shutdown apparatus of a hard disk is provided to lower the price of a product of the IP set top box, improve stability and enable a user to expect rapid speed in comparison to a set top box using the other network server. A method for implementing PVR(Personal Video Recording) linked with a user computer under IPTV(Internet Protocol Television) environment comprises the following steps. An IP set top box confirms an IP address and port information, where contents are provided, in response to a recording request from a user for the contents provided through an IPTV service(S200,S300). The IP set top box transmits authentication information together with the IP address and port information to a user computer within a home present on the same network as the IP set top box(S400). The user computer joins a server providing the contents based on the received IP address and port information, and perform normal authentication based on the authentication information(S500).
