The present invention relates to a catalyst comprising nickel on a TiO 2 carrier, the catalyst is nickel, Si, Zr, Hf, alkaline earth metals, Y, La and Ce 1 or more other selected from the group consisting of metal and, optionally in the step of co-precipitating at least one doping metal selected from group 5 to 11 of the Periodic Table of the elements, from a solution containing a metal salt corresponding to the TiO 2 particulate carrier, the step of drying after the step of calcination and reduction, and it may optionally be passivated to get by to obtain a nickel-containing catalyst. This catalyst, used in particular for the hydrogenation of nitro-aromatic compounds.
